In Ministry to Children (IMC) is a work in Colombia which is close to many in Life Church Petersfield. It is a ministry to street children in Colombia which has grown over many years.

 

Currently, IMC looks after 2 homes, one Granja Peniel for 22 boys between 5 and 18 years old and the other for both boys and girls of the same ages [5-18] at Altamira in Fusa where another 22 children are being brought up in a Christian environment. In addition to these 2 homes, IMC runs a daily feeding/education programme where between 80 and 90 children are fed and pastored each day.

 

As well as these activities, IMC is now running MicroEnterprise schemes, where individual families are funded to start a small business. The funding is very low usually between £30-£50 and the individuals, usually Mums from the feeding programme, are taught in the Christian principles of self-worth, honesty and daily work. Each scheme varies but this year some mums are cooking ‘Pasties’ for sale, whilst others have bought chickens and are selling eggs etc. At the end of the scheme the original loan is paid back and the book keeping, which is an essential part of the process, is inspected to ensure that any further loans from a Bank would be possible.
